Jeddah, Ramadan 20, 1439, June 05, 2018, SPA – The Organization of Islamic Cooperation strongly condemned the suicide attack on Monday, 4 June 2018 that targeted a gathering of more than 2000 Muslim scholars resulting in the death and injury of many innocent people. Deploring the terrorist attack in the strongest terms, the OIC Secretary General Dr. Yousef Al-Othaimeen expressed his condolences to the Government and people of Afghanistan for the martyrs and wished speedy recovery to the injured. The Secretary General also stated that the Muslim Ummah has been deeply disappointed by the lack of progress and response from the Afghan opposition to the Government's repeated appeals to unconditionally engage in peace negotiations. He once again urged concerned parties, Afghanistan's neighbors and the international community to continue exerting influence on the parties and redouble constructive efforts to help transform the current impasse in Afghanistan into one of forward-looking dialogue and peaceful settlement. --SPA 20:31 LOCAL TIME 17:31 GMT 0034 www.spa.gov.sa/w699506
