Dr. Al-Rabeeah casts light on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's pioneering role in the humanitarian and relief field Geneva, Rajab 18, 1439, April 4, 2018 -- Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeeah, Advisor-Royal Court and Supervisor General of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) confirmed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has through its bright history adopted a pioneering role in the humanitarian and relief field through serving the world community throughout the world, thus apprehending the importance of this role in alleviating the humanitarian suffering of the oppressed and the needy and in confirmation of the keenness of the leadership of the country to lend a hand of coordination to them whereas it has established King Salman Humanitarian and Relief Center aiming to provide humanitarian and relief assistance and supervise their delivery to the needy abroad. This came in a press conference he held today at the headquarters of the permanent delegation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Geneva-based United Nations, in the attendance of the Saudi ambassador to the European headquarters of the United Nations Dr. Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al-Wasel, the Saudi ambassador to Yemen Mohammed Saeed Al Jaber, who is also the executive manager of the Humanitarian Operations Support Center in Yemen, a host of international news agencies and media representatives. Al-Rabeeah said the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has ordered the establishment of the KSrelief on May 13, 2015 to serve as an incubator for providing humanitarian and relief assistance according the proclaimed objectives and principles. To date, the center has implemented 367 programs in 40 countries, with Yemen enjoying the largest share worth 217 projects, he announced. The overall assistance provided for Yemeni people amounted to more than $10 billion over the last three years, consisting of humanitarian, developmental and foodstuffs assistance as well as supporting Yemeni refugees, Yemen central bank, cholera combating program and mother and child care etc, Al-Rabeeah added. He said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates as well as the rest of the Coalition countries have launched early this year the comprehensive humanitarian operation plan in Yemen to alleviate the sufferings of Yemeni people throughout the country, hailing the Kingdom's yesterday donation of $500 million to finance the UN-sponsored humanitarian response plan in support of Yemen for 2018 which was delivered to the UN in Geneva. Al-Rabeeah said the center undertakes the application of international humanitarian standards and rules, including the provision of assistance without any discrimination, noting that the center has implemented a qualitative program to rehabilitate some 2000 Yemeni children who were recruited by the Houthi militias who used them as human shields. --More 21:12 LOCAL TIME 18:12 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w659500
