Beirut, Jumada II 21, 1439, March 09, 2018, SPA -- The UN High Commissioner for Refugees Affairs Filippo Grandi and the Executive Director of the UNICEF Henrietta Fore together called for taking more concrete measures to protect displaced Syrian females and juniors. In press statements following their inspection visit to Syrian displaced and refugee camp, about 30 km off the Syrian border with Lebanon, the two humanitarian leaders reported that more than half of the Syrian registered-displaced in Lebanon are women and unmarried females and that about 40% of the families of the Syrian displaced in Lebanon are headed by women. After directly listening to some females in the camp to mark the international day for women, Grandi and Fore paid tribute to the female leadership of the camp as they are working to train children and young girls how to protect themselves against violence and segregation. They described the presence of Syrian refugees as reflecting the tragedy of Syria and its hope at the same time. --SPA 02:54 LOCAL TIME 23:54 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w637760
