Riyadh, Jumada II 3, 1439, Feb 19, 2018, SPA -- Dr. Mohammed bin Ameen Al-Jeffery, Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council, received at his office in Riyadh today a U.S. congress delegation, currently on an official visit to the Kingdom. During the meeting, Al-Jeffery highlighted the importance of exchange of such visits between the two countries' parliamentary chambers. He gave an account on the Kingdom's positions towards a number of regional issues, topped by the Palestinian cause, drawing attention to the long-lived Iranian regime intervention in some Arab countries domestic affairs in addition to its long-standing support for terrorism and attempts to destabilize the security of the region through providing out-lawed organizations with arms and money. He also briefed them on the function of the Shura Council, its sub-committees and the chamber's legislative and control role in the country. On Yemen, he confirmed that the intervention of the Arab Coalition Forces in Yemen was in response to an invitation of Yemen's president to restore legitimacy which was usurped by Houthi militias in a coup that was still controlling the country's capital, Sanaa. Al-Jeffery also briefed the U.S. delegation on the objectives and mechanisms of the Kingdom's vision 2030, citing women increasing and active participation in public and civil life. For their part, the U.S. delegation members expressed happiness to visit the Kingdom, noting the importance of relations between the Kingdom and the United States. The meeting was followed by a meeting of the Saudi-U.S. parliamentary friendship council whereas Eng.
