Ambassador Almoalimi pointed out that Iran continues to exercise its blatant interference in the internal affairs of the Arab countries, including Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen and others, and continues to spread, support and adopt terrorism. He added that Iran is the main supporter of the terrorist Hezbollah group which exercise power and influence in Lebanon, ignite the war in Syria, and perpetrate the worst practices of killing, siege and ethnic cleansing. On the other side, Iran continues to support the forces of Houthi militias in Yemen, and smuggling missiles for them where they always launched them against the cities of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, emphasizing that about 90 missiles were launched on Saudi Arabia. "All missiles launched on my country were proved to you in UN independent reports that they are manufactured by Iran. These acts are clear and explicit violations of the Security Council resolutions no. 2216 and no. 2231", Almoalimi said. He said that it is the time for the Council to take a firm satnce on Iran, and to affirm that the international community will not stand idly by and tolerate these terrorist practices that are destabilizing international and regional peace. He added that it is also time to deal seriously with Hezbollah and detect its terrorist operations In Syria, Lebanon and other parts of the world and to counter its illegal arming and practices beyond the Lebanese constitution. In regards of the Syrian issue, Ambassador Almoalimi affirmed that the Syrian crisis is in a delicate phase and in its seventh year, disclosing that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia affirms that it can only be resolved through a Syrian consensus that meets the aspirations of the people and ends their suffering based on the Geneva Declaration 1 and Security Council resolution no. 2254. He pointed out that Saudi Arabia has sought to unite the Syrian opposition and encourage it to speak with one voice and one delegation, the Kingdom hosted the Second Riyadh Conference in November 2017, which succeeded in gathering the opposition factions in all its spectrum and providing unified leadership, which is representative body of the Syrian people and authorized to negotiate with the ruling authorities in Syria, he added. Almoalimi said that the humane suffering in Syria continues, as the forces of the ruling regime in Syria, backed by its allies, especially Iran's military forces and Hezbollah terrorist forces, are working to destroy the Syrian people and use chemical weapons against them, confirmed by independent UN reports, pointing out that there are more than three million people being held in confined and inaccessible places. He concluded his speech by affirming that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia reiterates its call for immediate humanitarian assistance to beneficiaries throughout Syria, regardless of their ethnic, religious, sectarian or political affiliations.
