Tokyo, Jumada I 3, 1439, Jan 20, 2018, SPA -- Bomb experts in Okinawa Prefecture on Saturday disposed of a large artillery shell dating from the end of World War Two. About 2,500 people in the southern Japanese prefecture were evacuated for the procedure. Weighing about 50 kilograms and with a length of about 70 centimeters, the bomb was discovered last November at a hotel construction site in the center of Naha City. It is believed to have been fired from a US warship during the Battle of Okinawa in 1945, Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK) reported. Ground Self-Defense Force personnel removed the bomb's fuse. The task was completed safely in about 40 minutes. --SPA 13:58 LOCAL TIME 10:58 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w591684
