Washington, Shawwal 24, 1438, July 18, 2017, SPA -- The United States imposed new sanctions on Iran over its missile and military-related activities in the Middle East, hours after it has maintained the international nuclear agreement with Tehran. The US is imposing sanctions on 18 Iranian individuals and entities over their suspected support for Iran's ballistic missile programme and Iranian revolutionary guard, the State Department said on Tuesday. In a daily briefing, State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert said the US is still "deeply" concerned about "Iran's malign activities across the Middle East which undermine regional stability, security, and prosperity. The US state department went on to say that Iran continued support for the Syrian regime despite the atrocities committed by Assad against his people and continues to provide support for Houthi rebels in Yemen with advanced weapons, threatening navigation in the Red Sea and being used in attacking the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and prolonging the struggle in Yemen. The US spokesperson said Iran continues support for terrorist groups, including Hezbollah and Hamas who threaten stability in the Middle East. She said that Iran continues to test and develop ballistic missiles, in defiance of the UN security council resolution No. 2231, being undermined by Iran's support for heinous activities which threaten "positive contributions" for regional and international peace and security. "The administration is continuing to conduct a full review of US policy toward Iran, including reconsidering the nuclear agreement as well as the threats posed by Tehran on the world security." Nauert said. --SPA 20:10 LOCAL TIME 17:10 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w448787
