Moscow, Shawwal 6, 1438, Jun 30, 2017, SPA -- Russia has extended sanctions on the West in the latest round of tit-for-tat economic penalties since Moscow annexed Ukraine's Crimea peninsula three years ago, dpa reported. Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the decree to extend the sanctions until the end of 2018 on Friday in Moscow, just a week after European Union leaders agreed to extend their own economic sanctions on Russia. Russia's sanctions on the EU prohibit the import of fruit, vegetables, meat and milk products from the EU, US, Canada and Australia as well as from other countries. The affected countries introduced sanctions against Russia, which were first agreed upon in light of Russia's annexation of Crimea in early 2014 and its support for separatists in eastern Ukraine. --SPA 17:40 LOCAL TIME 14:40 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w438143
