Jeddah, 21 Ramadan,1438 AH, 16 June,2017 , SPA -- Saudi Minister of Transport Sulaiman bin Abdullah Al-Hamdan, Minister of Transport of Kingdom of Bahrain Engineer Mohammed Ahmed Kamal, President of Civil Aviation Authority of United Arab Emirates (UAE) Saif Al Suwaidi, President of Civil Aviation Authority of Arab Republic of Egypt Engineer Hani Al-Adawi and Assistant President of Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation Captain Abdul-Hakami Al-Badr visited the headquarters of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in Montreal, Canada on Thursday 15 June 2017. The delegation met with President of ICAO Council Dr. Benard Aliu, Secretary General Dr. Fang Liu, a number of ICAO Department Directors, and Permanent Representatives of ICAO Member States and explained all measures taken by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in implementing the decisions of the governments of these countries. The delegation emphasized the legality of those measures derived from their sovereign rights emanating from the international law and in conformity with Security Council resolutions including No. 2309 and 1373 on countering terrorism in all its forms, and respect for the Convention on International Civil Aviation (Chicago Convention, 1944). The delegation welcomed cooperation and coordination with ICAO to serve its objectives and enhance the security and safety of the international air traffic, stressing at the same time that it would exercise its sovereign right under international laws to protect the airspace of the four States from any risks that might affect its safety. -- SPA 11:55 LOCAL TIME 08:55 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w429154
