Rome, Sha'ban 2, 1438, Apr 28, 2017, SPA -- Italy will assign an extra 2,900 troops to security and anti-terrorism duties as it prepares to host a Group of Seven (G7) summit at the end of next month, its government said Friday. Military personnel tasked with those responsibilities will increase from 7,050 to 9,950 units, a statement said after a cabinet meeting in Rome. The decision implies no expansion in the total size of Italy's armed forces, but just their redeployment towards G7-related priorities. G7 leaders are scheduled to meet in Taormina, Sicily, on May 26-27, dpa reported. --SPA 23:33 LOCAL TIME 20:33 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w388506
