Washington, A suspect believed to have randomly killed a 74-year-old man in a live Facebook video killed himself on Tuesday after a police chase in Pennsylvania, dpa quoted authorities as saying. Steve Stephens was wanted in a slaying that he apparently recorded on Sunday in Cleveland, Ohio, and posted on Facebook, setting off a manhunt that spread on Monday across the north-eastern United States. He was spotted on Tuesday morning in north-western Pennsylvania by state police officers. "After a brief pursuit, Stephens shot and killed himself, the Pennsylvania State Police announced on Twitter. The tweet said the incident took place in Erie County, which borders Ohio. Erie, Pennsylvania, is 165 kilometres north-east of Cleveland. Claims made by Stephens in the video to have carried out a wider killing spree were unfounded, police said. He had no previous criminal record but numerous traffic violations. Authorities on Monday offered a reward of 50,000 dollars for his capture. -- SPA 00:22 LOCAL TIME 21:22 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w379993
