United Nations, Jumada II 1, 1438, Feb 28, 2017, SPA -- Houthi militias and allied forces of deposed president Ali Saleh dared to prevent today the UN undersecretary for humanitarian affairs, who is in charge of coordinating emergency relief operations Stephen O'Brien from entering the besieged Yemeni city of Taiz. In a press release, the Office of Humanitarian Affairs Coordination said that despite his obtaining a permit by all parties, guaranteeing his safe travel during all stages of his current visit to Yemen, O'Brien, coming from Ebb, was barred from entering Taiz at the final check point. Following preventing his motorcade from entering Taiz, he headed for more safer areas to continue negotiations with the militias in control of the final check point, but in vain, expressing disappointment for foiling the humanitarian life-saving efforts aiming to reach the needy again as millions of innocent Yemenis are lacking food security and face malnutrition and starvation. --SPA 21:44 LOCAL TIME 18:44 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w342912
