Washington, Rabi'I 30, 1438, December 29, 2016, SPA -- Outgoing US President Barack Obama will announce measures in the coming days to punish Moscow for alleged Russian hacking that interfered in the recent US presidential elections, US media reported Wednesday, according to dpa. The administration could act as soon as Thursday, MSNBC reported citing unnamed sources, initiating a number of steps that could involve both economic and diplomatic sanctions. The US government accuses Russia of being behind a series of attacks on the Democratic party's computer system, thereby enmeshing itself in the election. The Kremlin denies the charges. Over the summer the Wikileaks website published hacked emails from members of the Democratic party leadership. According to reports, the CIA found that Russia had sought to use the cyber-attacks to help Donald Trump win the election. Obama made clear in recent days that he would pursue retribution for the attacks. --SPA 02:57 LOCAL TIME 23:57 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w300570
