Nairobi, 05 Muharram,1438 AH, 06 October,2016 , SPA -- Suspected al-Shabaab militants on Thursday killed six people in north-eastern Kenya, officials and media reports said. The attackers stormed into a residential plot in the town of Mandera near the Somali border, using a grenade to break the entrance and firing randomly at residents, the newspaper Daily Nation reported, according to dpa. Police intervened and the attackers threw another grenade before they escaped. "Six out of the thirty-three occupants of the attacked premise were killed and 27 rescued by our security forces," Mandera county governor Ali Roba said on Facebook. Al-Shabaab frequently targets Kenya over the presence of its troops in Somalia, where they form part of an African Union contingent helping the Somali government battle the radicals. -- SPA 12:30 LOCAL TIME 09:30 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
