New York, Muharram 05, 1438, October 06, 2016, SPA -- The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced on Wednesday its payment for treating 150 Syrian children injured in Aleppo. Treatment will take place in border hospitals in Turkey. Those injured children who need more specialized treatment will be moved to the Kingdom. The kingdom will also pay for the thoracic radiation devices for hospitals of Aleppo and neighboring regions. The kingdom appealed to the international community to reach a cease-fire, stop the bloodshed and return to a political track achieving the legitimate aspirations to the Syrian people according to Geneva statement (1). This came in a press statement released on Wednesday evening by the Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations Organization. Following is its text: "At a time when the pace of war and killing increases in sisterly Syria, and while our brethren in Aleppo continue to be exposed to the worst kinds of bombardment and destruction; the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia extends a hand of relief and announces the following: In response to the appeal launched in the United Nation by the Syrian-American Medical Association (SAMS) concerning the situation of injured children in Aleppo who need specialized medical care not available to them because of the constant bombardment carried out by Syrian forces on hospitals and healthcare facilities; the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will take necessary measures, in cooperation with the SAMS, for the medical evacuation of 150 injured children from inside Aleppo, ensure their treatment in border hospitals in Turkey, and transfer cases requiring more specialized treatment to appropriate hospitals in Saudi Arabia.
