Rome, Dhu-AlHijjah 07, 1437, September 09, 2016, SPA -- Thirty-one people, including children, were injured overnight on the Italian island of Sardinia after a man drove his car into a village festival, local news reports said Friday, citing the police, according to dpa. The Fiat Panda crashed into the crowds in Nule, a remote village in Sardinia's heartland, at around 1 am Friday (2300 GMT Thursday), during celebrations, local paper Unione Sarda reported. The newspaper said the driver - a vet from a nearby town - is presumed to have lost control of the vehicle because he fell ill or asleep "after a glass too many." When the car stopped, he was beaten and stabbed by an angry mob. None of the people involved in the crash are in life-threatening conditions. The driver is under police watch in hospital, and may be arrested once his condition improves. The Carabinieri police have also opened an investigation into his assault. --SPA 12:11 LOCAL TIME 09:11 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
