Rome, Shawwal 09, 1437, July 14, 2016, SPA -- A total of 675 bodies have been removed from the wreck of a migrant boat since it was recovered from the bottom of the Mediterranean after sinking in 2015, the Italian Navy said Thursday, according to dpa. The navy said it had discovered 458 bodies in the vessel's cargo area. The newly recovered bodies bring the death toll to 845 from the accident that occurred on April 18, 2015, considered to be the worst in recent Mediterranean history. Only 28 people survived the sinking. They told authorities that at least 700 others were dead or missing. The navy, or Marina Militare, said it has ended its 150-strong operation to recover the dead from the wreck, which was towed to the Sicilian NATO naval base of Melilli earlier in July. --SPA 23:13 LOCAL TIME 20:13 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
