New Delhi, 27 Ramadan,1437 AH, 02 July,2016 , SPA -- At least 15 people have died and another 21 were still missing after floods and landslides brought on by heavy rains hit the northern Indian hill state of Uttarakhand, officials said Saturday, dpa reported. Local media put the toll at over 35, but disaster management department officials said the search for missing people was still on. "Twelve people have died in Pithoragarh district and 15 are missing," Piyush Rautela, director of the state's disaster management division said. Most of those killed were in the houses that collapsed under landslides or they were drowned by flash floods. Two main highways in the region were also blocked by landslides and work was going on to clear them. The meteorological department has predicted heavy rains in the region for the next couple of days. -- SPA 13:36 LOCAL TIME 10:36 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
