Riyadh, March 15, 2020, SPA -- President of Human Rights Commission Dr. Awwad bin Saleh Al-Awwad has praised all precautionary measures being taken by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to prevent the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). He commended efforts of all committees concerned with following up on the health situation of the new Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Saudi Arabia. He also stressed that all measures being taken by Saudi Arabia respect human rights in all aspects, including the right of having all information on this virus, treating infected people or isolating the suspected, and the right of protecting the society from diseases. Dr. Al-Awwad clarified that all measures being taken by Saudi Arabia reflect its great ability to estimate the situation, efficient crisis management and efficient implementation of World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations related to this virus to protect citizens and residents of Saudi Arabia. He also confirmed that the Kingdom’s efforts to combat coronavirus are not limited to the local situation, but extended to include the international crisis. The government of Saudi Arabia has intensified cooperation with global efforts to address the virus, and upon the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Saudi Arabia provided USD 10 million to the World Health Organization for the implementation of urgent measures. --SPA 10:59 LOCAL TIME 07:59 GMT 0003 www.spa.gov.sa/w1288460
