Saudi Projects in Tunisia Reflect Strong Relationship Between Two Countries

Tunis, March 30, 2019, SPA -- Saudi projects launched by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and President Beji Caid Essebsi of Tunisia yesterday at the Carthage Palace in Tunis reflect the strong relations between the two countries. The King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud Project for the Renovation of Al-Zaytouna Mosque reflects the care given by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the historical mosques and the demonstration of their religious, civilization and urban values . In addition, the establishment of King Abdulaziz bin Abdulaziz University Hospital in Kairouan is an affirmation of what the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah has done to the Tunisian people. The hospital is considered a qualitative step benefiting Tunisian citizens, especially the people of Kairouan and surrounding areas. The project will cost $85 million and will be built on a total area of 15 hectares, a capacity of up to 500 expandable beds and more than 21 medical, paramedical and administrative specialties including modern medical specialties. The hospital will be equipped with the latest medical and technical equipment in the world. The city of Kairouan will also be under the King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud's project to renovate the Uqba bin Nafi Mosque and the ancient city of Kairouan, which has a religious and historical place. The Mosque of Uqba ibn Nafie was built in the year of 50 AH. It is the oldest mosque in the Maghreb. It is 9,000 sq meters. The ancient city of Kairouan includes the most important historical and Islamic landmarks of the Uqba ibn Nafi Mosque and the Ibn Khiroun Mosque, known as the Mosque of the Three Doors.
