Gaza, 01 December 2018 -- Member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization and Head of the Department of Refugee Affairs Ahmed Abu Houli hailed Saudi pledge to support UNRWA's financial budget of $63 million, for projects to be implemented, in Gaza, the West Bank and Jordan. "The additional financial support provided by Saudi Arabia will contribute to the continuation of UNRWA's vital services, in its five areas of operation for nearly 5.9 million Palestinian refugees, and alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian refugees," Abu Houli said, in a statement here today. It Will open a new window to urge donors to provide additional support UNRWA's budget for the year 2019, to compensate for US aid that has been completely stopped, he added. In this year alone, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has donated more than $160 million to UNRWA, including projects, in its five regions, he said, calling upon donors to follow the example of the Kingdom, in raising contribution ceiling and donating additional funding to stabilize the UNRWA budget for 2019, to prevent new crises affecting its services to Palestine refugees. -- SPA 20:07 LOCAL TIME 17:07 GMT 0024 www.spa.gov.sa/w797308
