Birmingham, Safar 23, 1440, Nov 1, 2018, SPA -- A line of storms moved across the southern United States early Thursday, cutting electricity to 110,000 homes and businesses and leaving at least two people injured in a possible tornado touchdown. The Storm Prediction Center reported trees and utility lines down across a wide area from eastern Louisiana, across Mississippi, and into northwestern Alabama, and radar showed storms reaching from the Gulf of Mexico coast north into the Ohio Valley. A local official said the two people hospitalized were in a mobile home that flipped west of Bogalusa, Louisiana, about 100 kilometers northeast of New Orleans. Forecasters said the storm would bring a threat of tornadoes, strong winds, and heavy rain. The storms were expected to move eastward into Georgia later Thursday. At least 110,000 customers were without power. The biggest outages were in central and eastern Louisiana and western Mississippi. Schools were delayed in the New Orleans area and other parts of southeastern Louisiana. Several school systems in Mississippi and Alabama canceled or delayed classes because of the weather threat. --SPA 17:51 LOCAL TIME 14:51 GMT 0022 www.spa.gov.sa/w780002
