The director of the Commission's branch in Asir region, Engineer Mohammed Al-Omra, said that the excavation work will continue for 35 days and participants include students from King Khalid University. Al-Omra thanked Prince Sultan bin Salman for his attention to the cultural heritage of the homeland in general and the special region of Assir. It is noteworthy that the excavations in the previous ten seasons revealed ancient monuments dating back to 3,000 years, and have illustrated the features of an Islamic civilization in the existence of two mosques. The excavations were performed by a joint Saudi-American team. The Saudi team has completed the site exploration since 1431H until now, producing significant results. The archeological site of Jerash is similar to the site of AlAkhdood in Najran in the size of its walls and the style of its construction, and the discovery of archaeological drawings symbolizing the growth and strength. -- SPA 12:51 LOCAL TIME 09:51 GMT 0007 www.spa.gov.sa/w765927
