Rome, Shawwal 18, 1439, Jul 2, 2018, SPA -- Ten people have been detained in Italy for smuggling migrants from the Balkans to Switzerland and trafficking in arms, gold, diamonds and money laundering. In a statement, the Palermo branch of the Carabinieri police said it had dismantled two connected groups, one based in northern Italy and the other operating from Sicily. One Macedonian, one Albanian and one Kosovar were apprehended along with seven Italians, while a further seven suspects, mostly from Balkan countries, are still at large, dpa quoted police as saying. Investigations revealed that migrants paid 3,000 euros (3,500 dollars) each to be picked up in northern Italy and driven across the Swiss border hidden in vans or cars. --SPA 21:19 LOCAL TIME 18:19 GMT 0027 www.spa.gov.sa/w711385
