Washington, Shawwal 09, 1439, June 23, 2018, SPA -- US President Donald Trump on Friday extended sanctions against North Korea for one year, saying it still posed an "extraordinary threat", dpa reported. The sanctions were renewed under an executive order reauthorizing a "national emergency" originally put in place in 2008. Friday's order said that the "existence and risk of proliferation of weapons-usable fissile material on the Korean Peninsula and the actions and policies of the government of North Korea continue to pose an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States." --SPA 10:45 LOCAL TIME 07:45 GMT 0002 www.spa.gov.sa/w706785
