UN-run UNRWA Values Saudi Provided Support for Palestinian Refugees

Beirut, Sha'ban 12, 1439, Apr 28, 2018, SPA -- The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) expressed utmost thanks and appreciation of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for donating a sum of $50 million to the agency, during the 39th Arab Summit session labeled as Al-Quds Summit (Jerusalem summit), which was, recently concluded in Dhahran city. In a press statement announced here today, the Commissioner-General of the agency Pierre Krahenbühl hailed the donation, calling it historical, adding: I would like to take this opportunity to express my deep appreciation for the strong political and financial support provided by Saudi Arabia to UNRWA, and to the 4.5 million Palestinian refugees, we serve. The announcement by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, he stated, sends a strong message that the question of the Palestinian refugees and the mandate of UNRWA have the firm and committed support of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; he pointed out, saying that: I greatly appreciate this generous donation and I am grateful for the confidence that UNRWA enjoys. While UNRWA faces an unprecedented financial crisis, Saudi Arabia's donation represents a strong solidarity message to the Palestinian refugees, thus adding to the Kingdom's unflinching support for UNRWA, particularly through regular and important donations from the Saudi Development Fund, he stressed.
