"We confirm that a Basque policeman died on Thursday," dpa quoted a regional police officer as saying. Athletic Bilbao lost 2-1 against Spartak but progressed to the last 16 4-3 on aggregate. The officer had a heart attack during a street fight between supporters of both sides before the game. He was taken to a hospital in Basurto but suffered a second, fatal heart attack.
