No Need to Attach Certificate of Origin to Documents Required for Customs Clearance -Customs Dept. Says

Riyadh, Muharram 20, 1439, Oct 10, 2017, SPA -- Saudi Customs Department pointed out here today that it has instructed all land, air and sea customs ports not to require importers to attach the Certificate of Origin to documents required for the customs clearance, for importers of all products and goods, bearing a fixed origin indication that is not removable, according to the nature of the goods. The Customs indicated that the non-demand for certificate of origin concerns customs clearance only and that customs clearance partners from other relevant parties have the right to request the certificate of origin directly from the importer, indicating that the document of certificate will be required only for imported goods, which cannot be fixed in a stable and non-removable manner. In the same context, customs explained that in order to benefit from preferential treatment for the purpose of enjoying customs exemption or reduction for products subject to international conventions, a certificate of origin must be submitted, in accordance with the forms and conditions provided for in these agreements shall be levied on customs duties and products of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states shall be excluded. -- SPA 19:57 LOCAL TIME 16:57 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w509162
