Dhaka, Muharram 11, 1439, October 01, 2017, SPA -- A United Nations humanitarian affairs chief is to lead a joint mission to camps of Rohingya Muslims in Bangladesh after over half a million of the refugees fled unrest in neighbouring Myanmar, the UN children's fund UNICEF said Sunday, according to dpa. Mark Lowcock, UN Under-Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs and Relief Coordinator, will fly to Dhaka on Monday along with UNICEF Executive Director Anthony Lake on a three-day visit, UNICEF said in a statement. "The purpose of the joint mission is to see, first-hand, the devastating humanitarian situation of the Rohingya refugees," the statement said. It added they will visit the refugee camps on Monday and Tuesday in the south-eastern district of Cox's Bazar, where more than 500,000 Rohingya Muslims have sheltered from attacks across the border in Myanmar's Rakhine state. --SPA 15:40 LOCAL TIME 12:40 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w501775
