Riyadh, Jumada II 29, 1438, Mar 28, 2017, SPA -- The Muslim World League (MWL) has lauded the Canadian House of Commons' adopting a bill that paves the way for future measures to combat the phenomenon of Islamophobia. In a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), MWL Secretary General Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Isa said that this bill comes within the context of awareness of the dangers of religious hatred on civilized behavior and social peace. He pointed out that Islam calls for understanding, dialogue and rapprochement among cultures and civilizations within the context of its participation and positive exchange through spreading the values of tolerance and coexistence. He added that religious, political, cultural and intellectual differences should not lead to hatred which is the main reason of extremism and terrorism. He pointed out that the terrorist extremism thinking attributed to Islam is the most beneficiary of the growing phenomenon of "Islamophobia" to emphasize its false theories. Al-Isa expressed hope that those who have embraced this intellectual extremism in countries where such beliefs have circulated are to follow the Canadian House of Commons' suit to curb the phenomenon of "Islamophobia" and overcome its negative repercussions, stressing that this phenomenon will generate more suffering and double the numbers of extremists. --SPA 18:38 LOCAL TIME 15:38 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w364086
