Washington, Jumada I 13, 1438, Feb 10, 2017, SPA -- A powerful winter storm dumped several centimetres of snow across a region of the north-eastern United States on Thursday, causing flight cancellations and other travel delays. According to dpa, the US National Weather Service said the storm would continue to affect portions of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York and the states in New England into Thursday evening and early Friday. The potential existed for heavy snow and strong winds leading to dangerous travel conditions, especially along major interstate highways connecting Philadelphia, New York City and Boston, the weather service said. As much as 45 centimetres of snow fell Thursday on parts of Massachusetts, the weather service said. More then 4,000 flights were cancelled across the US, according to the website flightaware.com. It said more than 700 of those cancellations originated in Boston alone.
