Beijing, Rabi'I 4, 1438, Dec 3, 2016, SPA -- Seventeen people are confirmed dead and "many others" are trapped after an explosion at a coal mine in northern China, state media reported on Saturday. According to dpa, the explosion occurred at the Baoma Mining Company mine in the city of Chifeng, Inner Mongolia, the Xinhua news agency reported. The accident comes four days after a fire killed 21 people and left one miner missing at an unlicensed colliery in the city of Qitaihe in north-eastern China. Media reports said the Qitaihe mine boss and three managers were being questioned by police on Saturday as China launched a nationwide safety overhaul in response to the recent surge in mining accidents. --SPA 13:14 LOCAL TIME 10:14 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w282079
