Rome, Dhu-AlHijjah 21, 1437, Sep 22, 2016, SPA -- A strike at struggling Italian airline Alitalia led to delays and disruption for passengers on Thursday, dpa reported. Some 150 flights were cancelled at the key Fiumicino hub in Rome alone, according to news agency ANSA, with passengers stranded in long queues. Pilots and flight attendants are refusing to work for 24 hours in protest at planned redundancies. The strike has put the troubled airline under further pressure, and elicited an open letter from Alitalia boss Cramer Ball to passengers. "The strike makes absolutely no sense. It damages everything that we have set up in the past months, and ruins our image," he said. -- SPA 22:50 LOCAL TIME 19:50 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
