Cambridge, Dhu-AlQa'dah 13, 1437, August 16, 2016, SPA -- Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani stressed that the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries strive to achieve security and stability in the region. In an opening speech before a Gulf Research Center-organized forum which began its work today in the British University of Cambridge, Dr. Al-Zayani highlighted the importance of youths in the GCC countries. The GCC Secretary General renewed the commitment of the GCC countries and the international community to fully implementing the UN Security Council Resolution No. 2216 regarding to the crisis in Yemen. Dr. Al Zayani also stressed the importance of efforts by regional and international forces to fight the Daesh terrorist organization, calling for concerted efforts to eradicate the phenomenon of extremism in the world, and expressed hope that the United Nations Center for Combating Terrorism, which was recently established and funded by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, would be a main contact point for the exchange of ideas and coordination of efforts to combat extremism. --More 00:11 LOCAL TIME 21:11 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
