Kampala, Ramadan 18, 1437, Jun 23, 2016, SPA -- Uganda will withdraw its peacekeepers from Somalia by December 2017, army spokesman Paddy Ankunda tweeted Thursday. He said Uganda would pull out "unless something substantial happens." Uganda has about 6,000 peacekeepers as part of a 22,000-strong African Union force helping the Somali government battle the Islamist group al-Shabaab, dpa reported. Uganda has also announced plans to withdraw its troops from the Central African Republic - where they are trying to hunt down the rebel group Lord's Resistance Army - citing insufficient international support. -- SPA 23:11 LOCAL TIME 20:11 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
