Moscow, Sha'ban 4, 1437, May 11, 2016, SPA -- Several paintings stolen from an Italian museum and valued at more than 16 million euros (18 million dollars) have been recovered by border officials in Ukraine, the Ukrainian government said Wednesday according to dpa. Masked gunmen stole the 17 paintings from Castelvecchio Museum in the northern Italian city of Verona in November. More than a dozen Italian and Moldovan nationals have been detained as suspects, including a guard on duty that night. The recovered works included those by Rubens, Tintoretto, Pisanello, Caroto and Mantegna, the government statement said, without including details about how the works were found. Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko congratulated border officials in a ceremony on Wednesday showcasing the artworks, according to the statement. --SPA 21:37 LOCAL TIME 18:37 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
