Washington, Jumada II 8, 1437, Mar 17, 2016, SPA -- US Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter said here today that the United States, despite the nuclear deal, still worried over Tehran's practices that undermine stability, in the region. Carter quoted by the American Free Station as saying that the Defense Department's budget for next year represents a milestone for the Pentagon, called on Congress to approve it, in order to address the challenges facing the United States. He stressed, during a hearing of the Senate Armed Services Committee, in the Senate today on the defense budget for fiscal year 2017 and years to come, that the budget gives the United States stability at a time when the department focuses on changing situations, in a fundamental way to adapt to the new strategic era. He explained that the challenges faced by the United States compel us to retain military superiority. "We should not be fighting against Daash and terrorism in Syria and Iraq only, but also in Afghanistan as well. It should be noted that military spending fell from $ 700 billion in 2010 to 560 billion last year, and it is not expected to exceed 600 billion by the end of the current decade. -- SPA 21:35 LOCAL TIME 18:35 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
