Geneva, Jumada II 5, 1437, Mar 14, 2016, SPA -- The UN human rights rapporteur on Iran Ahmed Shaheed stressed that Iran has executed over the past year more than 966 people, including 16 minors and child, and there are 160 still awaiting the same fate, noting that these rates represent a high record of executions cases in Iran during the past two decades. He condemned today, before the Human Rights Council, the violation of all human rights by the Iranian government, including discrimination against women, suppression of religious and ethnic minorities, and restrictions on freedom of religion and belief. He pointed out that such practices represent a significant gap between Iran's practices and Iran's international legal obligations, and represent a violation of the international humanitarian law and the international human rights law. --SPA 20:52 LOCAL TIME 17:52 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
