Moscow, Jumada I 24, 1437, March 04, 2016, SPA -- Moldova's Constitutional Court ruled on Friday to reinstate direct public elections to determine the country's president, according to dpa. Moldova, a former Soviet republic that is one of the poorest countries in Europe, has been rocked over the past year by mass street protests against the government. The court ruled that amendments made in 2000 to enable parliament to determine the president were unconstitutional. The term of current President Nicolae Timofti ends on March 22. The date of the next presidential election has yet to be determined. --SPA 22:41 LOCAL TIME 19:41 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
