Charleston, South Carolina/Washington, Jumada I 12, 1437, February 21, 2016, SPA -- Donald Trump was the projected winner of the Republican primary in the southern US state of South Carolina Saturday, while former secretary of state Hillary Clinton defeated Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders in the Democratic caucus in Nevada. With just 7 per cent of ballots tallied, Trump had 34 per cent of the vote, according to broadcaster CNN. His closest rivals Texas Senator Ted Cruz and Florida Senator Marco Rubio were locked in a tight battle for second place, both with 21 per cent of the vote. In Nevada, with 80 per cent of the ballots counted, Clinton had won 52.1 per cent of the vote versus 47.8 per cent for Sanders.
