The Staff Union said that at least 27 peacekeepers and 24 civilian staffers died in deliberate attacks last year, continuing a trend of increasing death tolls. In 2012, 37 UN personnel were killed. That figure went up to 58 in 2013 and 61 the following year. The union noted that most casualties were recorded in Mali, where 25 UN personnel died last year.
