United Nations, Rabi'II 4, 1437, Jan 14, 2016, SPA -- The World Health Organization (WHO) Thursday declared that the Ebola outbreak in Liberia has ended, announcing that all known chains of transmission have been halted in West Africa. WHO underlined that strong surveillance and response systems will be critical in the months to come to prevent additional cases. "WHO commends Liberia's government and people on their effective response to this recent re-emergence of Ebola," WHO Representative in Liberia Dr. Alex Gasasira in a statement. "The rapid cessation of the flare-up is a concrete demonstration of the government's strengthened capacity to manage disease outbreaks.
