New York, Rabi'I 25, 1437, Jan 5, 2016, SPA -- The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has strongly condemned all acts of violence against its diplomatic missions and the failure of the Iranian authorities to respect the fundamental principle of the inviolability of diplomatic and consular premises and the obligations of host governments in this regard. This came in the message sent by the Kingdom's permanent representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Abdullah bin Yahiya Al-MMoa'llemi on January 3, 2016 to the President of the UN Security Council; the President of the UN General Assembly, and the Secretary General of the United Nations. Following is the message's text: "Based on instructions from my Government, I would like to inform you of the storming and the attack against the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on January 2, 2016, in Tehran, Iran. At the time of the violation and looting of the embassy and setting fire to it, the Iranian authorities failed to carry out their duties to provide adequate protection. A similar attack, during the same day, against the Saudi consulate in the Iranian city of Mashhad was also carried out. Again, the Iranian authorities failed to fulfill their obligations under the international law, to prevent occurrence of such attacks. --More 14:19 LOCAL TIME 11:19 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
