Madrid, Rabi'I 9, 1437, Dec 20, 2015, SPA -- More than 130 forest fires were raging across the regions of Asturia and Cantabria in northern Spain on Sunday. "The north of Spain is in flames," the El Mundo newspaper reported on its website. The regional government of Asturias said there were "clear indications" that some of the fires had been started by arsonists. Residents had to leave their houses as the flames encroached upon inhabited areas. Some houses burned down, but no people have been injured so far, dpa reported. A special unit of the army has been deployed to help with the firefighting effort. The work was made more difficult by a strong wind that drove the flames forward. Northern Spain has been unseasonally warm and there has been very little rain recently. --SPA 18:21 LOCAL TIME 15:21 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
