Amsterdam, Safar 20, 1437, Dec 2, 2015, SPA -- An organized criminal group that smuggled migrants into the European Union was busted Wednesday and 23 suspects arrested in Greece, Austria, Sweden and Britain, Europol, dpa quoted the EU's law enforcement agency as saying. The network was estimated to have smuggled 100 people per day and is believed to have started operations in 2013, accumulating about 10 million euros (10.6 million dollars) in revenues, The Hague-based agency said. The group smuggled the mostly Syrian migrants from Turkey to Greece and other EU member states over the so-called Balkan route. Migrants contacted the group's headquarters in Greece for help moving north, including transport, forged travel papers and housing, Europol said. The accused ringleader of the group was arrested in Liverpool, England. Thirteen suspects were arrested in Greece, seven in Austriaand two in Sweden.
