Berlin, Safar 13, 1437, Nov 25, 2015, SPA -- Germany's four biggest energy providers Wednesday pleaded for more clarity about plans to turn off nuclear power in the country, arguing that they have the financial and technical ability to make the switch, but need a clear road map from the government, dpa reported. Germany decided to give up nuclear power in 2011, in the wake of the Fukushima disaster in Japan, with the goal of replacing it with renewable energy. The last nuclear power plant is now set to shut down in 2022. The main issue is closing down the plants and finding safe storage for nuclear material. Since German politicians have been fighting for decades about a final site for such nuclear waste, companies are nervous that they will be stuck with shuttered plants, nowhere to stow the waste, and mounting costs. -- SPA 23:14 LOCAL TIME 20:14 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
