Geneva, Safar 13, 1437, November 25, 2015, SPA -- This year will likely become the hottest year since the pre-industrial era , the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) said Wednesday in Geneva, dpa reported. Because of man-made global warming and the strong El Nino weather phenomenon, the average global temperature is set to rise 1 degree above the levels seen between 1880 and 1899 this year, the UN weather and climate agency said. Ocean surfaces have also reached record temperatures, and greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere have crossed the level of 400 parts per million this year. "This is all bad news for the planet," WMO Secretary General Michel Jarraud said as he presented the preliminary annual assessment ahead of the UN climate talks starting Monday in Paris. --SPA 13:05 LOCAL TIME 10:05 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
