Manila, Muharram 07, 1437, October 20, 2015, SPA -- Philippine disaster relief authorities on Tuesday warned of more floods from a powerful storm which was lingering over the country's northern region, dpa reported. "More floods can be expected as Koppu continues to bring rains over the mountainous areas in the north," said Romina Marasigan, a spokeswoman for the disaster relief agency. "Water from the mountains will cause floods in the plains to rise," she added. At least 12 people were killed in accidents caused by the Koppu weather system, which made landfall as a typhoon on Sunday but had weakened to a tropical storm, according to the national disaster relief agency. Local and regional sources put the total number of dead at 22, including seven who died in a boating accident in rough seas several hundred kilometres south of where the storm made landfall. --SPA 12:44 LOCAL TIME 09:44 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
