Johannesburg, Muharram 2, 1437, Oct 15, 2015, SPA -- A heavy drought that is hitting southern Africa could leave 13.5 million people facing hunger, dpa quoted the United Nations emergency aid coordinator OCHA as warning Thursday. The UN agency attributes the drought to El Nino, a global climatic phenomenon occurring approximately every seven years that causes extreme weather in many regions. The drought is hitting especially Malawi, Zambia, Mozambique, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Namibia, though South Africa and Madagascar will also be affected, OCHA officials said at a press conference. --SPA 16:01 LOCAL TIME 13:01 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
