Mogadishu, Dhu-AlHijjah 18, 1436, October 02, 2015, SPA -- The radical group al-Shabaab on Friday took two towns in central Somalia, officials and witnesses said, according to dpa. "Amara and Ba'adwayn are now under full control of al-Shabaab fighters," said a regional senior official. Residents said al-Shabaab took the towns without resistance after local militias had fled. There were no Somali troops or African Union peacekeepers in the area. Al-Shabaab already controls the port of Harardheere in the same region. --SPA 21:10 LOCAL TIME 18:10 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
